Newcomer to the World of Greeting Cards, Birthday Cards and Gift Ware

A Nice Touch is a newcomer to the world of greeting cards having entered the arena with the launch of Bottle Bows and Wobbly Bits at the NEC’s Spring Fair in February 2009. Our parent company, Whitney Woods Ltd, is a leading UK manufacturer of pop-ups and interactive products for the business-to-business promotional marketing industry making many products that are closely related to greetings products. It was in the course of developing new products for the promotional business that A Nice Touch was born as the way to bring new products and new ideas to the greetings card marketplace.

We produce a number of items of “bottle ware” for promotional use, one of which is a bottle collar that looks rather like a bow tie. That product became the model for our range of bottle bows. It was also through the first designs of bottle bows that the name “A Nice Touch” was born. We sampled one of the designs on a bottle of wine and someone in the office said, “That’s a nice touch” and that was it!

Interactive promotional gimmick led to the idea of “Wobbly Bits” greeting cards

Another promotional item also led to the introduction of our second launch product which we call “Wobbly Bits”. We developed a fun, interactive add-on which had a wobbly action which is featured on our business-to-business site as a “Wobbly Head”. However, for use as a greeting card we transferred the emphasis from wobbly heads to wobbly bottoms. The reaction to the first samples has been sensational. The girls in particular just love the men’s wobbly bums and scream with laughter as soon as they see the action.

A small start but more unusual greeting cards are on the way

Having made this first step we intend to explore other possibilities. We have a number of unusual items which we believe have the potential to be adapted to become a success as greetings products and you can expect a steady stream of new releases through the coming months.

As we are new to this market we are going to explore all avenues to see which offers the best path for future releases. For now, we start with this simple e-commerce site which offers the opportunity of customers worldwide to buy online. Trade and retail customers are given the opportunity to register and create an online trade-only account.
